CLUB HISTORY & COLOURS
The Huntly College Old Boys Rugby Football Club (Inc) was first
founded in approximately 1892. The club became inactive in 1899 but was revived in
1900 and together with Taupiri and Ngaruawahia formed the Lower Waikato Rugby
Union in 1902. The club later went into recess but was revived again in the
1950's.
The original clubrooms were located on the playing grounds but in 1973 clubrooms
were built on the hilltop. In 2007 this historic building was made
available for sale and the club has now moved back into a clubroom alongside the
playing grounds.
The Club has helped develop many Representative players over the years. Players
of distinction have included:
 |
Joe Wright - Member of the All Black Squad
for the second test against the British Isles in 1971 at Christchurch. |
 |
Craig Ferguson - NZ Colts 1978 |
 |
Hudd Rickett - NZ Maori 1978 |
